Each year, Kev and I spend New Years Eve with these fine-lookin’ folks:

Two years ago, we celebrated in Orlando at Disney for my very first visit.

Last year, we trekked out to Kansas City to watch the ball drop.  An excellent time was had.

THIS year, Kev + I are the hosts and we’re ringing in the New Year in Atlanta (Expectations are high.)  Sooooo, we’ve decided to celebrate with Yacht Rock at Park Tavern!

If you’ve ever seen Yacht Rock perform, you KNOW that we’re in for a great time!

And, Park Tavern is an awesome place to celebrate any holiday.  PT always throws a solid party…

NYE with Yacht Rock is an all-inclusive event.  Drinks and food are covered all night and into the wee hours of the morning.  There will be live music with Yacht Rock Revue & Atlanta’s best DJ spinning in the Piedmont Room overlooking the Midtown skyline.

Highlights include:
- Open bar: premium liquor, beer, wine and champagne
- Live music + NYE countdown with Yacht Rock Revue
- Gourmet food including hors d’ouvres, carving station, NYE specialties along with plenty of sides + salads to keep your energy up and dancing into the New Year.

- Toast & get toasty with smores for dessert

***BONUS***  LOOK FOR ME AT PARK TAVERN totally rockin’ out to Yacht Rock…

…and I will give a fist pump + one of these super rad Q+DD koozies to the first three people who wish me a “HAPPY QUICK + DIRTY DIRTY NEW YEAR!”

Your drinks have never looked so fashionable…  I can’t think of a better way to toast 2012!

Q+DD koozies: so hot right now.

See y’all at Park Tavern!  Wishing a fun NYE to all!  :)

All Month Long: Midtown’s holiday festivities continue!

Festival season is upon us, Atlantans!  This weekend we start it off with the grandest of them all: The 75th Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival.

It’s an event over seven decades in the making!

The Atlanta Dogwood Festival is one of the largest + most diverse juried arts festivals in the country.  More than 250 artists exhibit in 12 categories, including painting, glass, clay, wood + mixed media.  Some of the country’s top painters, photographers, sculptors, leather + metal craftsmen, glass blowers and more will be participating in the 2011 Dogwood Festival Artists Market.

As a special feature for the festival’s 75th anniversary, there will be a nine story classic Seattle Ferris Wheel built in 1963 to give visitors a whole new perspective of Piedmont Park and Midtown + a fully restored 1965 vintage carousel for the entire family to enjoy!

I’ve been going to this festival for years now + I am always the most excited about two aspects of it – neither of which are the artists, who are excellent, but I’m just saying…

1 – Disc Dog Exhibition
The 20th Annual Disc Dog Southern Nationals USDDN Qualifier will be held on-site at the festival Saturday and Sunday!  Find the schedule here:  Dogs w/ Ups

2 – Serious Festival Food!

See you all there!  But first, my momma has one last reminder for you:

"don't forget your sunscreen!"

(You just gotta listen to Adele.)

Do you scream-sing “Hotel California” in your shower like I do?

Do you like bands who say that they are never getting back together (“Hell Freezes Over”) and then proceed to do so anyway?

Do you like old guys in tight pants who’ve still got it goin’ on?

If you answered “yes” to any of the questions above, you might be interested to know that THE EAGLES are playing PIEDMONT PARK’S GREEN CONCERT on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15!

The Eagles

The concert is presented by the Piedmont Park Conservancy, and tickets go on pre-sale tomorrowGet ‘em while they’re hot!!

The Dave Matthews concert at the Park a few years ago still remains one of my top five favorite days of living in Atlanta.  Seeing a concert in the Park IS the very best!

Piedmont Park

Who cares if your Outlook calendar won’t stretch past next weekend?!  Buy these tickets for the October concert as soon as you can.  I have a pretty strong feeling that this one is going to sell out.  Don’t want to have to say “I told you so…” :)

Piedmont Park's Green Concert

Be there or be incredibly square.

I’m so excited about the Sweetwater 420 Fest in Candler Park and the Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park this weekend!

Here’s the Q+DD on SW420F: This 6 year old event is basically a two-day music and arts festival held to better the Candler Park Community by “inspiring positive change and through ongoing community outreach.”  Admission is free, and you can purchase a wristband for a mere $5 to sample some brewskis.

There’s an awesome band lineup (click here to see.) Seth says (SETH SAYS!) his FAVORITE bands are playing Sunday afternoon and the word on the street is the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is not to be missed.

Thanks, E!

Additionally, lots of local artists, a 5K (click here), and an opportunity to get in touch with local, regional, and national non-profits as well and find out how you can take earth friendly practices back to your community and homes.  FAB!

And the Q+DD on the 74th Annual Dogwood Festival:

One of Atlanta’s oldest festivals and in my beloved Piedmont Park! Not only will there be awesome music and food, but Dogwood is one of the biggest and most diverse juried arts festivals in the country! All kinds of artsy-craftsy types and independent genius artists will be in attendance…more than 250 of them! SO excited.
Hit up Dogwood tomorrow from noon until 9pm, Saturday 10am – 9pm, and Sunday 10am – 5pm.

There’s few things I love more than shopping for tchochkies (and priceless works of art!) day drinking, live entertainment, and Atlanta’s AMAZING parks!

Oh yes, my friends.  It is FESTIVAL SEASON. Next weekend:  INMAN PARK FEST!

See you in the park(s)!

Sorry, Olive. No pups allowed!

xx, L
