(Watch out.)  My inner-Veruca Salt is about to come out in full force, people…

"but DADDY, i want a golden goose NOW!!"

Could someone PLEASE open a Drybar in Atlanta?  I can’t believe that we don’t have one yet + I really think it would do SO well in the ATL!

What’s a Drybar?  Check it out here…it will blow you away!  (Get it?  No seriously, get it?!?)

In addition, I really want an in-town BYOB mini-golf course.  I think there would be such a big ITP market for it…and it would be so much fun!  Great third or fourth date potential.

we want something just like YOU!

Mini-golf is one of my most favorite activities.  Behold:

(Esp. when stuff like this happens…)

While I’m at it, I’d also really like a dueling piano bar – Pete’s in Texas + Vegas, in particular.  And, let’s put it smack dab in the middle of the Buckhead bars.

Just think of all the business they’d do here with bachelor + bachelorette parties ALONE!

Sooooo, who’s with me?!   :)

Investors – I’m ready to do your press…

No really, I am.

I have really been trying to make an effort to eat right + maintain a consistent workout routine this holiday season.  I still, however, have a sweet tooth that demands to be satisfied.

A little over a month ago, my college girlfriends came to Atlanta to visit + hang out in the Georgia Wine Country.  One of my oldest friends in the group, Mrs. Milstein, asked that I run her by Trader Joe’s since it’s not in Texas.  While we were walking around the store marveling at the cheap specialty eats, Shauna spotted the thinkThin protein bars and asked me if I’d tried them before.  I told her that I hadn’t + she threw a few into my basket and instructed me to taste them immediately.

They were ridiculously good!  I wouldn’t consider myself to be a protein bar connoisseur or anything, but I’ve tried a number of different kinds over the years and definitely like these the best.

Over the next week, I tried three different flavors.  My favorite is the White Chocolate Chip: white chocolate chips with a hint of almonds covered in rich white chocolate.  Um, YUM!

Here’s a peek inside…

thinkThin protein bars aren’t too bad in the nutritional department, either.

Nutritional Breakdown
Serving Size: 1 bar
Calories: 230
Fat: 8 grams
Carbs: 25 grams
Protein: 20 grams

And, they are sugar free + gluten free, too!

Here’s the full line of flavors: Brownie Crunch, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Chocolate Fudge, Chocolate Mudslide, Chunky Peanut Butter, Creamy Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate, Lemon Cream Pie, Tangerine Cremesicle + White Chocolate Chip.

Shauna told me to refrigerate them + eat half of a bar as an after dinner dessert.  I listen to pretty much everything she says + followed her instructions.  They have really been hitting the spot!  It’s nice to know, too, that my end-of-the-day sugar cravings are not being satisfied by totally empty calorie holiday food.  The taste isn’t being sacrificed, either.

Click HERE for more information about thinkThin.  Pick them up @ your local Trader Joe’s!  :)

This weekend, my college girlfriends are coming to town for a visit!  And, I’m SO unbelieveably excited!

(not pictured: mich (flounder))

We’ve been getting together a few times a year ever since we graduated from Texas, mostly for weddings (as pictured above), but since no one’s gotten married this year, we planned a little reunion weekend instead + are going to Dahlonega to visit the Georgia Wine Country!  My total + complete heaven…

Dahlonega. Hello!

It’s going to be so nice + relaxing!  :)

If we weren’t planning to be in Dahlonega, we would DEFINITELY be spending Saturday @ Cabbagetown’s 2010 Chomp + Stomp Chili Cook-Off + Festival + 5K Run!

Cabbagetown’s Chomp + Stomp was created to celebrate the heritage and local flavor of the neighborhood, as well as benefit Cabbagetown Park.  Slick + CK + I went last year and had so much freaking fun!  It really is very deserving of its Creative Loafing Award for “Best Intown Hipster Hootenanny” (greatest word ever?  i’m thinking so…)!

Whatever you’re doing this weekend – bring a thick jacket!  It’s getting really chilly in the A!   Burrrrrrrrr!

Way too many people say that Halloween is their favorite holiday, so in an attempt to remain original,  St. Patty’s Day has been my #1 for the past few years.

St. Pat's 2009

Green beer + pinching strangers…count me in!  :)

However, I do absolutely love Halloween.  It’s an incredibly close #2.  And, I take it VERY seriously.

Costuming takes commitment + months of planning, people.  However, this year my costume has already been decided for me.  I’m not quite sure how I feel about that yet, but I am definitely excited for what we have planned…

I’m going w/ Slick + co. to the Florida vs. Georgia game in Jacksonville!

So, I will be pretending to be a Florida fan for the entire holiday weekend!  It will absolutely take a serious commitment on my behalf to pull this one off.  It is going to be SO fun!   My challenge now is to somehow make jorts + a mullet super cute.   I really just want to fit in…

Or, I’ve been contemplating these as backups:

Vertical stripes are flattering, but I am a little concerned that I might get cold.  In case the weather plummets, this may be a solid alternative outfit to consider:

I don’t know.  I just really wish they made this in my size:

I know I’ll be able to come up with something to fully demonstrate my commitment to the holiday, but I’m kinda hitting a road block.  I’m almost a month and a half away – the pressure is on!

Go Longhorns Gators!

PSA:  For those staying in Atlanta for the #2 best holiday of the year, it’s time to dust off the ol’ thinking cap and start working on your creative costumes!  The clock is ticking.

And, I will judge you.  Fact.

pets are just too easy...

Hooray for Halloween 2010!  :)

Over the weekend, I bought the most incredible Phoebe Couture dress for a wedding I am going to in October.  Two of my best girlfriends, Shauna and Stacy, wore Phoebe for their wedding rehearsal dinners and I absolutely fell in love with their dresses.

So beautiful!  I just had to have one of my own.  Predictably, though, it needs a few alterations…

I only trust my alterations to the fabulous Gizzelle James She is a Midtown-based fashion designer specializing in alterations, custom dresses, re-styling and wedding gowns.  Gizzelle is incredibly skilled, very personable and, frankly, totally amazing (we used to go to the same kickboxing class – she’s tough, too).   Gizzelle has helped me with emergency same-day alterations and correctly advised me on not needing New York hems on my beloved J Brands.  Although, she’s definitely not the cheapest in town, I always feel confident about the care of my clothes when I leave them with Gizzelle.  And, she’s a blast – I love chatting with her about fashion while she is re-working my latest purchase.

Gizelle!

Gizzelle!

Here’s the Q+DD on Ms. James:  In 1991, she moved to Atlanta and started a custom clothing business.  Gizzelle built a steady client base by creating original designs and restyling vintage pieces.  In 2006, Gizzelle started her first ready to wear collection.  She appreciates the desire for beauty and luxury in fashion, and she says that her taste and design ability have led to collections that are both sophisticated and modern.  And – Gizzelle’s super-awesome and does fantastic alterations.

Give her a try – and let me know what you think!

I mean this in a general sense, but specifically, today, I am referring to workout goddess, Tracy Anderson.  Shauna introduced me to Tracy a little over half a year ago and since then she’s become a fixture in my workout plan (not to be confused with “Kanye’s Workout Plan”).

I did yoga in college, mat pilates for years, worked out with trainers, been in and out of running kicks, trained for the Breast Cancer 3-Day and regularly kickboxed at a MMA studio in Atlanta, but I have to say that I sort of wish I’d been doing Tracy’s videos all along.

Here’s the Q+DD on Tracy Anderson Method:

Tracey was a dancer and she moved to Manhattan to study at Julliard.  Like most college kids, she gained some weight.  In an attempt to shed the poundage, she started working out hardcore, but noticed that her formerly long/ lean muscles were bulking.  Yadda yadda yadda, she designed a workout program that focuses on building long/ lean muscles without making you look like the Terminator.
She concentrates on small muscles groups and has you workout with weights from time to time, but never more than three pounds.  She says that anything above three pounds will create extra space in your arms that will eventually turn to flab.  This may sound soft, but her workouts are challenging.

FYI: Tracy is a personal trainer for both Gwenyth Paltrow and Madonna and her L.A. studio is in my bestie Amy’s neighborhood!

I have two of Tracy’s workout DVDs and do them frequently.  :)

You can buy them on her website: http://tracyandersonmethod.com/

Plus, she is cute as a button and her DVDs are much more fun to workout to than my old school 8 Minute Abs or my kinda scary Jane Fonda tapes…  Just saying, I have them.
