Thank you, Reality TV Gods!  This is the best birthday-month-present I could have asked for…  Tonight is the season 3 premiere of MTV’s Jersey Shore!  Now, I don’t know about you, but I can’t WAIT to find out what my favorite self-proclaimed guidos + guidettes are getting into this time around!

Jersey Shore! I love you.

Especially my little orange princess, Snooki.  (Who, FYI, just released a book called SNOOKI: A Shore Thing.)

Seen two seasons already + need a reason to sit in on #3?  Well, here are five from BuzzSugar.com:

1-  See you later, Miami!  The gang is back in Seaside Heights.
2- No more Angelina.  Hooray!

3- A new roommate moves in.  (Snooki’s best friend.)
4- More hookups.
5- LOTS of drama.  Snooki gets arrested for public drunkenness, JWoww and Tom break up, Ronnie and Sammi constantly fight…  This is going to be great.

I’m excited!  In honor of the premiere tonight, I am grabbing pizza at Varasano’s w/ some folks AND I just purchased these bad boys online:

TB Orange Leopard Reva Flats

(I’d fit riiiiight in!)  I’m so ready.  Season 3 – BRING IT!

Over the weekend, I spent a few hours at Mint Salon in Midtown with my stylist, Doug Anderson, getting my roots taken care of + chatting about life, generally.  I told him that over the past few humidity-free months in Atlanta, I was feeling like my hair was kinda deflated.  We discussed my past experiences (mostly terribly unsuccessful) w/ curling irons + rollers, and then he asked me if I round brushed.

Now listen, in life I think it’s really important to know your strengths + weaknesses.  For example, a few of my strengths are:

1 – Efficiently packing a dishwasher.
2 – Creating + crossing off to-do lists.
3 – Front-seat driving.  (Just ask, Slick…  I’ve been ticket-free since 1997!)
4 – Tolerance for tequila.  (It’s impressive, if I do say so myself…)
5 – Creating solid workout playlists for the gym.

A few of my weaknesses are:

1 – Opening jars.
2 – Assembling furniture from Ikea.
3 – Math.
4 – Addiction to bad reality TV.  (Most recently, I’ve been glued to 16 + Pregnant…)
5 – ROUND BRUSHING MY HAIR

me, but not me.

For years, I’ve tried to pump body into my straight hair with a round brush, but I’ve never been able to master it.  There’s always something wrong w/ the way I’m doing it: too much hair on the brush, too much static, the brush is too big or too small, it gets stuck in my hair…you name it.  I can kinda do the left side of my head w/ my right hand, but I am completely unable to do the right side w/ my left hand.  (I have the same dilemma w/ applying nail polish, too.)

I could feel that Doug was a little embarrassed for me.  I mean, it’s not rocket science, but still I was honest with him – and I’m fully aware of my hairstyling weakness.  He told me that I should be using a professional boar hair round brush.  Doug said that they are actually easier to use than other round brushes (your hair will slide through them better) + boar hair brushes can minimize static.  Then, he styled my hair with one + I left the salon w/ hair that would make the cast of Jersey Shore pack up their hair spray and bronzer + move to Minnesota.  I had NO idea that my hair had so much volume potential!

Since I buy everything for my hair that Doug tells me to, I ran to ULTA in Buckhead Station after the appointment + picked up my very own medium-sized boar hair round brush.

boar hair round brush

I’m not about to tout my new-found round brushing abilities or sign up for beauty school or anything, BUT I will say that this brush is alleviating my styling struggles a bit.  And, my hair has had more volume than usual in it this week.  I’m v. happy with my purchase, and will continue to defer to Doug re. my hair woes + encourage you all to visit him if you have any.  He’s a genius.

I just loved when Chelsea Handler jumped into the Jersey Shore hot tub in her formal during Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards.  Ahhahahah!

world's nastiest hot tub

Do you know how much I adore you, Chels?  Do you??

I thought you did a fine job hosting the VMAs.  Kudos to you + Chuy.  :)

In other news, Snooki w/ bangs = NOT my favorite.  Just sayin’…

Is it just me or is every week a Restaurant Week??

Not that I’m complaining…but still.  It seems like every time I turn around it’s another RW.  (P.S. It’s impossible for me to write “turn around” w/o breaking into song in my head.  “TURN AROUND…every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never comin’ round…TURN AROUND Bright Eyes!” )  Excellent.  Will have that in my head for the rest of the afternoon.  Similarly, I can’t say the word “situation” any longer without thinking of my favorite Thursday night guilty pleasure.  GTL 4 Life, yo.

mike "the situation"

Okay, okay – back to business…

My personal favorites included in this list are Ecco (don’t forget to get a bottle of my favorite wine!), Pacci and Serpas, but overall this is a nice selection of restaurants for an excellent deal.  Don’t miss out, but honestly if you do, I’m sure that it will be Midtown RW again in a month or two.  Just sayin’…  :)

After a long wedding weekend in New Jersey (FYI: did not get to meet Snooki as she went and got herself arrested the evening I arrived…), I’m pretty sure that the 90% of my body that is supposed to be made up of H20 is now almost entirely Belvedere vodka.

Needless to say, I’m dehydrated.

As I was surfing through the ol’ Book’o'Face yesterday to catch up on what I missed over the weekend, I happened to notice that the lovely ladies @ Caren West PR (just adore!) were drinking + chatting about something of great interest to me considering my current situation…

BOXED WATER

Ummmmm.  THIS is amazing!

Here’s the Q+DD on Boxed Water + why YOU should drink it:

Part sustainable water company, part art project, part philanthropic project, and completely curious.  Boxed Water Is Better, is a boxed water company.  Started with the simple idea of creating a new bottled water brand that is kinder to the environment and gives back a bit - the developers at BWIB found that it shouldn’t be bottled at all, but instead, boxed.  So they looked into the past for inspiration in the century old beverage container and decided to keep things simple, sustainable and beautiful.  About 76% of the Boxed Water container is made from a renewable resource, trees, that when harvested in a responsible, managed and ethical way serve as an amazing renewable resource that benefits the environment even as it’s renewed.  BWIB ships their boxes flat to their filler which is significantly more efficient compared to shipping empty plastic or glass bottles to be filled.  The flat, unfilled boxes they can fit on 2 pallets, or roughly 5% of a truckload, would require about 5 truckloads for empty plastic or glass bottles.  Their cartons can also be broken down to their original flat state, and are recyclable in some areas.  The Carton Council, www.recyclecartons.com, is continuously adding new carton recycling facilities throughout the country.  BWIB is also giving 20% of their profits back to the resources the product is composed of – water and trees.  Not only does it simply make sense, but they really enjoy supporting water and forestation organizations as part of their company ethos and way of thinking to give back and participate.  All that + an overarching focus on simple and beautiful design that compliments their brand, as well as the spaces it’s sold and consumed: Boxed Water Is Better.

Pretty, cool, right?!

This is just beyond brilliant.  Enjoy, trendsetters!  I’m off to get my hydration ON…  :)

Slick + I are headed to yet another wedding this weekend (3rd this month) w/ some of his legal eagle amigos.

the group over new years

I have to tell you, I really couldn’t be more excited!  Aside from the predictable awesomeness that I can expect from hanging out with these folks, the wedding is in the JERZZZ!

oh gosh, i really hope they're invited!

SO unbelievably stoked!  And, I’ve been practicing…

Okay, so, when I asked Slick this morning about the attire for the wedding, he alleges that he talked with the bride and she said “any dress will do…” which means he actually didn’t talk to the bride because no girl in her right mind would ever leave wedding-related attire so vague.  After I gave him a hard time about it, he consulted reinforcements and we now know that the attire is black tie (Bumpit) optional.

My dress is set, but one very important question remains:  To Bumpit or not to Bumpit?

totally bumped

Although the Texas girl in me always defaults to my vintage cowboy boots as my signature way to jazz up an otherwise blah outfit, I am REALLY considering trading in my country kicks in for my very own Bumpit for the occasion!

bye, bye my beloveds

I’ve just been so inspired by my favorite Jersey Shore party girl, Snooki:

And, my favorite Jerseylicious villianess, Tracey:

Plus, hair height is kinda in my Roberts’ blue jeans

mother.

I think I’m going to BUMPIT!  Heading to CVS in 10…wish me luck.  Ahhhhh!  :)

I usually travel about two weekends each month, but July is completely out of control.  By the time July is over, I will have spent at least part of every weekend in another city…

Syracuse + Skaneatles:

d's wedding

hellloooooo from heaven

N. Georgia Mountains:

gorgeousness @ lake burton, but watch out for...

...this guy. eek!

Columbia (SC):

levin wedding @ columbia museum of art

dancing machines

Random Arkansas:

Even random-er New Jersey, where I really hope to see:

my fav. gym-tan-laundry homies, the cast of Jersey Shore!

(Love things + people + awesomeness from New Jersey as much as I do?  If so, you may want to know about Jersey Shore’s Mike “the Situation’s” first stab at literary excellence: http://tiny.cc/gj75j!  I digress…)

I’ve learned a few things here and there throughout my travels, and I am confident that I can reduce some travel-related stress with just five points to remember below:

5-  If you are flying out of or connecting in Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson airport and need food or want to waste away a few hours at a bar while waiting for your departure, head directly for Terminal E.  They have my favorite food selections, including some healthy options, and a really great wine bar located right next to the duty free store = dangerous.  Also, Term. E has the only fine dining restaurant in the airport, One Flew South, for you fancy-pants travelers, you.

One Flew South (Terminal E)

4- Go through security in the first class + medallion gate.  I am a Delta medallion flyer and always go through the security gates all the way to the back of Delta’s check in area, and I have NEVER had anyone ask me to show them proof of my status.  Don’t be a schmo, if you are in a rush to make your flight, take advantage of a faster line for securityI promise I won’t tell on you…

don't do it.

3-  Need a last minute mani/pedi before the big trip, but don’t have much time?  No problemo.  Head on over to the XpresSpas in Terminals A + C for some quickie pre-flight spa services.

XpresSpa (Terminals A + C)

2-  Why waste $30 to check your bags when you can just be a thoughtful packer and save yourself some dough?  Carry on your baggage whenever possible – particularly if you are flying Delta, which has the highest incidence in the airline industry for losing traveler’s baggage.  Slick lost his luggage on Delta five times out of the last eight flights he’s taken.  Fact.

Ladies:  Do not EVER pack your make-up or a bridesmaid dress.  Trust me – it’s never worth the risk.

delta hates you, slick

1-  Talk to your neighbor(s) on the plane – at least for a little while.  You never know who you’ll meet.  I’ve had friends who have met people who have set them up on dates, helped them to network for jobs and made some pretty cool random connections – even if it’s just a new book recommendation.  Who knows, you may even find a friend to chow down w/ at One Flew South in Terminal E…

pleased to meet you - i am your new friend, lindsay.

Just, please, watch out for snakes.  (Don’t say I didn’t warn you, oh weary travelers…)

Snakes on a Plane

Safe travels this summer.  See y’all around Hartsfield-Jackson!  :)

A close friend + colleague went to Miami last weekend for a bachelorette party, and just guess who she was drinking bubbly with on S. Beach…

(her picture)

AH HAHAHA!!!  None other than my favorite fist-pumping, gym-tan-laundry-ing Mike the Situation + his posse from the Jersey ShoreApparently, they are filming the new season of the Shore down there.  Gosh, I have the coolest friends…

P.S. She said they totally live up to their “classy” reputationSoooooo jealous!

As previously mentioned, I watch a ton of National Geographic + Discovery Channel.  Mother Earth is fascinating to me.  In fact, I just watched a v. cool Nat Geo show called “Drain the Ocean” where they did just that and I was absolutely mesmerized.  Transfixed for two hours straight.  It was pretty awesome to say the least.  I’ve also been watching the Oprah-narrated “Life” on the Disco Channel, which is very educational + kind of amazing to see in HD.

so what...

However, my favorite specimens to study while I’m sitting at home eating dinner on the couch or giving myself a homemade pedicure are creatures covered in faux fur with extremely tan hides, extra long nails and wild manes.  Sounds scary, right?  Right!  Where can you find these animals in their “natural” habitat you ask?  Easy.  Central Jersey at the Gatsby Salon.  I’m watching “Jerseylicious” on the Style Network (Sundays at 10:00 p.m. EST)…and I’m obsessed!

I thought that “Jersey Shore” was good…HA!  “Jerseylicious” is my dream show – total reality garbage mixed with crazy animal prints and lotsa lotsa drama + scissors + makeup = AMAZING!  I honestly can’t turn it off…  (I like it so much, I’m even watching it in real time!)

the absolutely incredible cast of "jerseylicious"

Here’s the Q+DD: The Gatsby Salon in Central Jersey recently underwent a $2 million dollar renovation.  In hopes of upping their image, building their business, and most importantly, making their money back – the store owners have hired a bunch of eccentric new stylists and makeup artists.  Pretty simple.

"where big hair meets even bigger personalities"

These two, Olivia + Tracyare rivals and always fighting.  FYI – I’m on Team Olivia.

tracy + olivia

Alexa is the Omarosa of the group.  C.R.A.Z.Y. pants.  She’s got five pairs…

the "glam fairy"

Gigi is the sweetheart -totally marriage-obsessed and everyone’s friend.

xoxo gigi. you are adorable!

(She kind of reminds me of my mom, too…  Weird.)

retro adele

Everyone else in the show is just noise to me, but they are all funny as heck.  This is trashy entertainment at its best!  Jerseylicious” is looped constantly on the Style Network and I’m pretty sure you can catch it online.  It may just change your life.  Fact.

OH, I almost forgot…I am soooooooo excited for this: Next week they all go to New York to get a make-UNDER!  I can’t wait to see that!

Give yourself a “Jerseylicious” makeover herehttp://bit.ly/144aMQ

Enjoy, Glam Fairies!  (You’ll see..)  :)

So, basically….I’m tired.

Me. (Kindly disregard frozen vegetables nearby my face.)

Me. (Kindly disregard frozen vegetables alongside my face.)

This doesn’t happen to me often, but I’ve had a long week: Dallas all last weekend, busy work week + various nighttime activities, (Tuk Tuk for lunch + La Pietra Cucina for drinks + Murphy’s for dinner + Jersey Shore finale yesterday), and Park 75 for lunch today…it kind of goes on and on and on.  I am tired AND full.  All I want to do tonight is RELAX(That word always reminds me of Zoolander…)

Derelict. Derelict.

Derelict. Derelict.

Anyway, to all of you going out to do something fun tonight – please enjoy yourselves.  For anyone staying at home like me, you might find the rest of this post useful.  Here are my eight steps to total-and-complete-staying-home-on-a-Friday-night BLISS:

Step 1- First, I am going here to get a move on ‘Kanye’s Workout Plan’:

Okay, not really. L.A. Fitness.

Okay, not really. L.A. Fitness.

Step 2- Then, I need to quickly run to the grocery.  In case you didn’t know, I’m an excellent + quite efficient grocery shopper, as evidenced below:

Register Total = Priceless?

Register Total = Priceless?

I'm good with carts

I'm good with carts.

Step 3- I shall pick up one of these bad boys:

lean-cuisine-artworkStep 4- And, a bottle of Charlie:

untitled

Step 5- I may whip up some of these if I’m feeling crazy.  It would make for a nice little Friday night…but I don’t know if I’ll have time:

Comb-over cupcakes = a Lindsay + Lauren specialty

Comb-over cupcakes = a Lindsay + Lauren specialty

Step 6- I plan to park myself on one of these:

Minus Oprah + Tom Cruise

minus Oprah + T. Cruise, naturally

Step 7- And, I’m going to start watching Season One of THIS on Slick’s mom’s recommendation (so excited):

mad1

Step 8- The best part of it all is that I am going to be puppy-sitting for this angel:

Guinness!!

Guinness!!

(It’s okay to be jealous.)  I’ve actually started watching the clock now.  I can’t even pretend that I’m not excited to stay home on a Friday night – I honestly just can’t.  The music is already playing in my head, “tonight is going to be a good night…tonight is going to be a good, good niiiiight…”

Happy Friday, everyone!  :)
