I have been an Exhale member for over four months now + I am convinced that their Core Fusion classes are the most challenging workouts I’ve ever done.

What’s Core Fusion?  Allow me to enlighten you…

Core Fusion is a technique which fuses the disciplines of core conditioning, pilates*, the Lotte Berk Method, interval cardio training + yoga to produce long, lean muscles and an athletic body.  The focus, intensity + challenge of Exhale’s one-hour classes allow the participant to work from the inside out, creating a unique, results-oriented experience.

*Personal note: I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the word “pilates,” b/c of how closely it’s spelled to “pirates.”  Just saying…

I am totally sucked in.  And, I am so, so, so FAR from being anywhere near the best in the classes, which has actually been very motivating to me.  (Seriously, I’m the person in the back trying to get through everything w/ wide eyes thinking, “uh, you want me to do what with my leg?” but still doing it.)

I frequent the Core Cycling, Core Fusion Cardio + Core Fusion Open classes.  (I almost passed out in Core Fusion Sport, but I know people who love that class.)

This coming Thursday, April 28th, Exhale is rolling out a new class to their growing program: Core Fusion Boot Camp!  It sounds great.  Here’s a little blurb from Fred DeVito, one of the Core Fusion creators…

fred

“[Core Fusion Boot Camp] is a heart-pumping cardio and strength training program that will give you ripped abs, sculpted arms, shapely legs + a firm backside.  The class brings variety galore!  We do athletic Plyometric-type jump-backs with a core ball, planks and push ups on a core ball + then we do yoga flow movements for breath work + elongating of the muscles.  Also the ab work in this class is the toughest that we do…but after all, that’s what Boot Camp is [all about], right?!”

Interested in trying out a class?  Contact our friend + Exhale’s Manager of Guest Experience, Anne-Marie Berte @ amberte@exhalespa.com.  (Tell her that you read about Core Fusion on the Q+DD!)

Come check out Exhale’s new Boot Camp class with instructor Lis Halpaff at 5:30 p.m. on April 28th followed by a post-class party!  Sign up early as rumor has it that this class is filling up fast…  :)

I feel confident in saying that Pirate’s Booty is the single greatest snack ever invented.  It’s like a healthy alternative to Cheetos (all-natural, baked, only 130 calories per serving + trans-fat and gluten free) - and the small bags are a mere three Weight Watchers points…if you are into that sort of thing.

I don’t know about you, but I’m hooked!

I love the Aged White Cheddar flavor.  The Veggie will also do the trick, although it’s not my preference.  However, I spotted these fun new flavors of PB @ Whole Foods yesterday!  Check ‘em out:

BERMUDA ONION (modern day Funyuns?)

BARBEQUE

SEA SALT + VINEGAR

CARAMEL

I can’t wait to try them all!

Grab a bag @ your local Whole Foods today or order them online @ www.piratesbooty.com.

“ARRRRRRRRRRRRR!  It’s a pirate’s life for me!”  :)

As previously mentioned in my Antico post, Mich + Justin were in town from NYC last week.  Since they hadn’t met Slick yet, we made plans to join them for dinner one evening.  They were staying in Grant Park, and so we thought it made sense to go some place local.  The first restaurant to pop into my mind was Six Feet Under

whoops!! - accidentally brought the remote to dinner in my purse. fact: i am the world's greatest roommate.

Which reminds me, I love Six Feet Under in Grant Park for exactly five reasons:

5 - Oyster Shooters
They have them and I think that’s awesome.  My favorite is the Six Feet Under: Absolut Peppar, Bloody Mary mix + Oyster, but the Bloody Bass-tard and the Oyster Kamikaze are really fun, too.

4 – The Best Hush Puppies in the History of the World.
They are absolutely delish.  I like mine a bit underdone.  I’d eat hush puppies over french fries or onion rings any day – although I’d prefer not to have to choose.

3 – Proximity to Oakland Cemetery
I love, love, love Oakland Cemetery – it’s easily one of my favorite attractions in Atlanta.  There are so many interesting, historic people like Margaret Mitchell, Bobby Jones + Maynard Jackson buried there.  I think it’s so fun to go on a walk through the garden cemetery on a pretty day and admire all the old crypts.  A few drinks at Six Feet Under afterwards makes for a really unique date*.

*Attention Boys: This is not okay for a first date.  Repeat: Not okay for a first date + know your audience.

2 – The Staff
I have absolutely nothing profound to say here.  The service is good.  The staff kind of reminds me of a crew of shipmates.  I think that is cool and theme-appropriate for Six Feet.  That’s all.

what’s a pirate’s favorite letter??

1 – DYSON HAND DRYERS!!
Have y’all tried these yet?  Fact: Dyson Hand Dryers are the most powerful hand dryers in the whole wide world.  I’m a little obsessed with Dyson vacuum cleaners – so spotting these babies at Six Feet made my day!  (It doesn’t take much to excite me, obv.)

I’m just saying…what else could you possibly ask for in a restaurant?

Although the Grant Park location is my favorite, Six Feet is also located in West Midtown near the Atlanta Humane Society.  The West Midtown location has a great rooftop patio that I’ve really enjoyed in the summer for drinks.
