Lessons Learned over Labor Day.

Y’all, I had the greatest Labor Day vay-cay.  I really did.  And, I got a pretty sick tan if I do say so myself…

Over the past four years, work has been way too busy during this time of year for me to take a Labor Day trip, but this year I was able to make it work.  Carpe Diem! 

Here are some things I realized about a successful Labor Day getaway:

1 – Off-season swimsuit shopping is SLIM pickins, but Swim ’n Sport in Lenox Mall is def the place to go.  I spent a fortune, but got the world’s cutest Trina Turk swimsuit there for my trip.  Love you, Trina!  Got a bunch of compliments.

2 – Kansas City Ice Water is the single greatest poolside drink I’ve ever consumed.  It’s a brilliant + delicious mixture of 3/4 oz. of vodka, 3/4 oz. of gin, 1/2 oz. of lime juice + 7-Up.

 (These Kansans didn’t exactly invent it, but since they live in KC + spent the weekend w/ me, I’d like to credit it to them.  Thanks y’all.)

3 – I’m not quite sure how you do this, but putting sunscreen on your scalp is kinda important.  I accidentally burnt the heck out of mine.

The rest of my body is sunburn-free, however, thanks to this bad boy that left me with a healthy glow and not a peel-y mess after four long days in the scorching sun.

4 – There is nothing better than being on vacation.  N-O-T-H-I-N-G, friends, nothing.
