My New Favorite Carb

I am addicted to Whole Foods 365 Tandoori Naan(Indian flatbread)

gjl

It is delicious, cheap (around $3-$5/ package) and versatile.  It makes for great pizza, tasty sandwiches and is perfect for shoveling hummus or spinach artichoke dip – I will admit to using it for salsa, too…  I love the consistency of naan and it’s more filling to me than bread or crackers.  Plus, it looks cool on a plate:

Check it out next time you are in Whole Foods.  It is a great accompaniment to any meal!

No shame – I’ve used it for salsa too.

Ah, Naan. I was in San Francisco back in September and before we were taking the redeye home so we got sushi before heading to the airport. Of course, I got smashed on sake bombs (it was my birthday so it’s okay). Our cab driver to the airport was from India and when he told us that, I was like – “You’re from India? Oh, I like your bread.” I also insisted on pronouncing it: “Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.”

You know, because there’s an extra “a” in it.

    You can’t take me anywhere.

    Haha! “naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan” You are hysterical!

    Viva la salsa!!

That is another reason I like naan, personally. I have oft been accused of using not only extra punctuation (!!!!!) but also extra vowels. With naan, extra vowels come free of charge.

Seriously, I did NOT read that comment before I posted it. The whole first sentence sounds like I’ve been drinking sake bombs again.

I’ve been told the exact quote was:

“You’re from India? That’s cool. I like your bread.”

Slowly but surely, I will turn you into an Indian ;-) I just tried some goat cheese and mint naan…yummy! (I know you don’t like goat cheese, but it was delish!)

I think your wedding was enough to sell me on that, Anj. I’d really like to be an Indian bride one day. And, I’d like for my hair to look like yours all the time. And, and, and…
