The Obligatory Cookie Cake

Once upon a time in Atlanta, I lived with a darling little person named Rachel.

rachelRachel is special.  She could drink her weight in tequila, have every man in the room wrapped around her finger in mere milliseconds, and thought everything in the world could be either cured, celebrated, or completed by the presence of a cookie cake from the Great American Cookie Company.

Break up with a boyfriend? Cookie cake.
Promotion at work? Cookie cake.
Bad hair day? Cookie cake.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING of any importance went down without the Obligatory Cookie Cake. I remember opening a show back in 2005 and all my cast mates were greeted with flowers and there stood Rachel with that familiar red box. (Plus, it was really comical to think of my teeny tiny roommate holding on to that enormous cake for the entire 2-hour long show…)

Now, I love all things fancy.  But when you think about it, a simple cookie cake really makes an event.

Erin and I had one for our 26.5 birthday. Witness:

"26.5. Because we can. (and we did!)"

"26.5. Because we can. (and we did!)"

In my office, we have cookie cakes for EVERYTHING. Birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, engagement parties, EVERYTHING.

Here is the cake we had when my darling Gretchen left to be a stay-at-home mommy:

gretchencookieToday, we had one for our colleague, Woodley, who is moving out of state. (Waaaaaah!) The cake may or may not have had Richard Marx lyrics on it.

"I will be right here waiting for you..."

"I will be right here waiting for you..."

You will never know for sure because my office of 5 very sophisticated, graceful women can take down a cookie cake at such astonishing speed it would make your head spin and that cake is g.o.n.e. Sexy, I know.

We are on a first name basis with the Great American Cookie Company people here in Peachtree Center. Dalon, the owner, is the cutest nicest guy in the word and FOR SURE thinks we have an office of 25 people or more given the amount of cookie cake we order, I am certain of it.

So, in conclusion, it’s Friday. Go ahead, celebrate. Get a cookie cake…

xx, L

P.S. I have eaten more than my share of cookie today. Wish me luck in fitting into my costumes this weekend.
