Countdown to Halloween 2009 Begins!

My second favorite holiday of the year, St. Patty’s is #1: green beer, leprechauns and pinching strangers – you don’t get much better than THAT, is right around the corner.  31 days from now to be exact…  It’s time to get serious, people.

Although I am legitimately afraid of the dark, I don’t watch scary movies nor do I trust people in masks, I have a very special place in my heart for Halloween.  Maybe it’s my mom’s voice in the back of my head reminding me that “in this life – you can be anything you want to be, darling.”  Or maybe it’s my eighth grade art teacher encouraging me to think outside of the box and really utilize my creativity.  Whatever the case, I take costumes very seriously - and Halloween is the Mecca of costuming.

Please witness a brief photo montage of recent Halloween awesomeness:

I haven’t quite concocted my costume yet for this year, but my wheels are turning…  These two costumes are in high contention right now:

I promise nothing less than sheer awesomness – and I am thinking this may be the year for a group costume.  Which brings me to the most important part…

You absolutely have to have a great Halloween party to attend to show off your creative costume!  Every year we say we are going to do something different.  We don’t.  So again, for the fifth year in a row, we are going to Spiralween at Park Tavern!  October 31 falls on a Saturday this year – so it will be perfect!  Tickets are $10 right now, but they skyrocket closer to the party – so get them ASAP.  Lines are pretty long when you arrive at Park Tavern, so make sure that you get there early-ish on Halloween night.  There is a costume competition, too, which is always super fun.   And – did I mention that Yacht Rock is this year’s band?  Amazing!!

I’m only 128% sure that this Halloween is going to be the best yet!  See you @ Spiralween!

I vote for Jem, but I think you need to go with pink hair for a truly authentic costume. You could also go as an Indian princess, seeing as you’ll own a sari by then ;-) That was always my mom’s default costume for me when I was a kid.
