Dear Alcohol (a love letter of sorts.)

Dear Alcohol,

I know I owe you an explanation. You must be wondering where I’ve been these last 40 days and the truth is, I have been avoiding you, yes. I don’t regret it, though. I think that we have both benefited from this break; I am glad we had this time apart to reflect on what we both want out of this relationship. For example, you want me to be fat, broke, and do silly things and I just want to do silly things.

I knew we couldn’t stay apart for very long, I just can’t stay mad at you. Plus, we both know this is far bigger than just you and me. There are other people that are affected. For instance, I know Lindsay has taken this break very hard. And I know my mother is confused and maybe a little hurt when I go to Birmingham for the weekend and I don’t participate in happy hour(s). Also, think of all the local restaurants and bars whose business must be suffering from my lack of social activity. I mean, we have Atlanta’s economy to consider! However, the real bottom line is…I’ve missed you. I have.

I’m really looking forward to reuniting with you this weekend in Park City. I think it’ll be good for us to have a weekend away together. We’ll share some laughs, visit with old college friends, it’ll be magical. But when we return, I think we should ease back into our affair slowly. We’re in no rush! I’m in it for the long haul, and I want you to know that.
So, see you tomorrow. One favor. Please do not make me say or do anything asinine on Rachel’s wedding video. Thanks in advance.
