Last Thursday Lindsay was kind enough to invite me to a fantastic cocktail party she hosted at the Woodruff Arts Center. It all started out innocently enough…we enjoyed cocktails + appetizers at Table 1280.

Fab Fab Fab. My favorite was a truffled chicken salad on a fried wonton. (I don’t know what it is about truffle oil, but I am an absolute FIEND for the stuff…truffled haystack at Haven…parmesean truffled popcorn at 4th and Swift…hello!)
Lindsay was partial to the chorizo quesadilla, but it was hard to choose as they had about a zillion passed plates of various delicious little bites going around at all times. I love Table 1280, it’s just so simple and fresh feeling. The best part of my night, though, was the company. We had a fantastic group- Lindsay’s colleagues are all so interesting/hilarious. My cheeks literally hurt from smiling/laughing.
Eventually, we went over to see the Monet Water Lillies collection at the High Museum of Art. I think that we are incredibly lucky to have the High here in Atlanta and the luxury of having access to amazing exhibitions at our fingertips at all times, but I have to say, I think this one was just a little disappointing. Here’s the bright side:
1. The accompanying Richard Misrach photography exhibition was really interesting (“On the Beach.” On view until 08/23/09) and
2. We took a little photography of our own. Here is our exhibition:

(Probably not what Lichtenstein had in mind…)
We should probably NOT be allowed in public.
After our classy evening at the High, we went for a little sushi at recently opened Ra Sushi Bar in the 1080 building.
The sushi was totally delish and inventive (they love mango there. Like me.) and the scene was bumping. I suspect they probably do a huge happy hour business, their patio is fantastic with a big circular bar that is both indoor and outdoor facing. My only caveat is that they could probably benefit from beefing up their wait staff a bit (everyone was SUPER friendly but the service was sloooooooow.) All in all, though, no complaints. I’d say it was a pretty terrific way to spend a Thursday evening!

awww, it’s like your very own Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!
…you know, the scene where they go to the art museum? only it’s in Chicago. cuz that’s where the film takes place. and it’s just the big musical montage of them looking at paintings. and it was the 80s so of course the song had a saxophone solo. anyway, that’s what i was referencing…
